What are the Advantages of Corrugated Sidewall Belt Conveyors in ...

The corrugated sidewall belt conveyor has the following advantages: Large conveying inclination angle(0-90°), high lifting heigth; Small space area, low project investment; Low energy consumption, simple structure, convenient maintenance; conveyed material is not easy leak, the powder material is not easy to fly, reducing the enviroment pollution; Compared with the same speciation belt conveyor, corrugated sidewall belt conveyor has larger capacity, more stable during the large inclination angle; The strong belt rigidity, not easy to deviation; low noise; Lot of equipment form can be provided; Can conveyed the large size material( achieved 400mm). In addition, corrugated sidewall belt conveyor not only convey material with large inclied angle or vertical, but can rotation with a large rotation range. Therefore, corrugated sidewall belt conveyor is widely used for metallurgy, mining, coal, chemical, food, port, power, construction and other industries. Now, combining the features of mining transportion introducts the appliance of corrugated sidewall belt conveyor.
Shaft lifting
In recent year, shaft lifting system generally using the bucket elevator as the lifting equipment. These equipment has low productivity and high manufacture cost and running cost. Coal shaft lifting equipment cosists of the trough chain conveyor, belt conveyor and corrugated sidewall belt conveyor. The trough chain conveyor transport material to belt conveyor, then the belt conveyor conveys the material to corrugated sidewall belt conveyor to realize the continuous conveying. After crush, the size of material is in the range of 0-400mm, that conveyed by the belt conveyor to corrugated sidewall belt conveyor. At present, the conveying capacity of the corrugated sidewall belt conveyor has been able to lift downhole materials whose height is over 100 meters. The shaft lifting equipment adopts corrugated sidewall belt conveyor, compared with the ordinary shaft lifting equipment, there are following advantages:
Reduce the equipment investment; reduce the running cost; Save the expense of developing the wellhead and bottom; Save wellhead bottomhole loading facilities and equipment; Simplify downhole and surface conveying system to realize continuous conveying and improve production efficiency; Simplify conveying productive arrangement and convenivent to management.
Inclined lifting
Inclined lifting equipment widely using the bucket elevator。If you want to expand the production capacity, you can give priority to the choice of corrugated sidewall belt conveyor. The original sloping ramp foundation can be used to install corrugated sidewall belt conveyor. It also has the advantages of less investment, simple structure, easy management, low operating cost, continuous transportation and improved production efficiency.
Open-pit mining lifting
The tranditional open-pit mining convey equipment has the disadvantage of big noise, seriously pollution and large construction and maintenance cost. There are two or more combined transport systems. Side Wall Belt Profiles & Technical Details

Belt Profile Industry Configurations

    1) Sidewalls that are mounted flush on the side of the base belt without cleats (smooth top). Typically used on horizontal conveyor configurations or minimal angles (no curve up or nose overs). 

    2) The sidewalls mounted flush the the sides but with cleats between the sidewalls. This allows for moving materials at steep straight inclines (no curve up or nose overs). 

    3) The most common and widely adapted configuration is having the sidewalls slightly recessed from the belt edge to allow for inclines (with curve ups and nose overs). 

**Please note there should be a minimum for recess of the side (10% of the overall base belt width plus the side wall height)

Belt Width

The conveyor belt width should typically be 4 times great than the side wall height to remove the risk of "top-heavy" loading. 

Face Width or Effective Belt Width

The effective width, or the lateral distance between the sidewalls, is recommended to be at least two times the largest lump size to prevent possible product bridging or entrapment.

Cleat Spacing

The center to center dimension of the pusher or cleat is recommended to be minimum of 2x the largest piece of material. This will remove the ability to have material bridge or get stuck. Its important to make sure the cleats match the inside wall of the corrugated area of the belt. This will help remove the risk of material getting stuck between the cleat and the side wall. 

Cleat Height

It's important to keep your cleat height at a minimum of a 1/2" lower than the side wall height to remove the risk for jamming or interference around external chutes on the frame of the conveyor. 

This also removes the risk of a cleat continually hitting the return idlers and eventually damaging the cleats on belts 24” wide or less.

Make sure the cleat height is a minimum height of 75% of the largest material height. For instance if the max height of your material is 4" the minimum cleat is 3". If the incline angle of the conveyor is at or exceeding 75 degrees, the cleats must have a minimum height of 150% of the largest item height in your material stream
