Wine barrels are essential for any winery, safeguarding its most valuable asset – the wine. When barrels are not humidified properly, the dry wooden walls draw moisture from the wine, causing it to seep through small gaps, leading to significant evaporation losses. A single 225-liter wine barrel can experience a volume loss of 10-15% over the course of a year. Utilizing a professional humidification system within the barrel room ensures that the wood absorbs moisture from the air, filling the small crevices and ultimately preventing wine loss. The ideal environment for a well-maintained barrel room typically hovers around 57-60°F, with humidity levels maintained at approximately 75%-80% relative humidity.
